2Data stored on your device

To work, the app saves the following on your phone. It is never sent to us.

WhatWhy
Player names you type (e.g. "Asha")To show names in the game and on the leaderboard
Finished games: date, mode, finishing places, game lengthTo show the leaderboard and recent games
A game in progressSo you can continue it later
Settings (theme, token style, sound, vibration, light/dark mode, and game options such as Auto-move and Hold dice numbers)To remember your choices

This data stays in the app's private storage until you delete it (see Deleting your data).

3Optional Google sign-in & backup

You can sign in with your Google account in Settings โ†’ Account. This is optional; the whole game works without it.

What the app receives from Google

Your name, email address and profile picture, only to show which account is signed in. They are kept on your device and are not sent anywhere else.

What is backed up, and where

Your settings and finished games (player names, finishing places, dates and game length) are saved to the hidden app-data folder of your own Google Drive, using Google's drive.appdata permission, so they can be restored on another phone.

  • The app can only see this one folder, never your other Drive files.
  • We (the developer) cannot see this folder or its contents.
  • Data travels directly between your phone and Google over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection.
  • Google's handling of your account and Drive is covered by the Google Privacy Policy.
Sync stops when you sign out. Signing out keeps your data on the phone and stops sending updates to Drive.

4What we don't do

  • No advertising and no in-app purchases.
  • No analytics, tracking or crash-reporting services.
  • No collection of location, contacts, photos, microphone audio or device identifiers.
  • No selling or sharing of personal information with anyone.
  • No accounts other than the optional Google sign-in, and no online play.

5Permissions

PermissionUsed for
InternetOnly for the optional Google sign-in and Google Drive backup
VibrateSmall vibrations when rolling and capturing (can be turned off in Settings)
Modify audio settingsPlaying the game's sound effects (can be turned off in Settings)

6Deleting your data

  • Scores on the phone: Leaderboard โ†’ Reset scores. If you are signed in, the reset is also synced to your backup.
  • Everything on the phone: uninstall the app, or Android Settings โ†’ Apps โ†’ Ludo โ†’ Storage โ†’ Clear data.
  • The Google Drive backup: sign out in the app, then open Google Drive โ†’ Settings โ†’ Manage apps โ†’ Ludo โ†’ Delete hidden app data.
  • Remove the app's access to your Google account: myaccount.google.com/connections.

Because we hold no copy of your data, there is nothing else for us to delete. If you need help, contact us.

7Security

Data on your phone is kept in the app's private storage, which other apps can't read. The optional backup is sent over HTTPS and stored by Google in your account. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but we keep the amount of data to the minimum the game needs.

8Children

Ludo is a family board game. We do not collect personal information from anyone, including children. Google sign-in is optional and subject to Google's own rules for children's accounts (for example, accounts managed with Family Link).

9Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the new version will be published on this page with a new "Last updated" date. Significant changes will also be mentioned in the app's release notes.
